I am always experimenting with beauty products to see what suits my skin. As a teen and young adult I always suffered with dry skin, however after spending more time researching and trying various products I found ways to improve my skin and I would now class it as normal.
One thing I am keen to experiment with is more natural skincare products, especially ones which I can also use on my daughter’s skin (she has sensitive eczema-prone skin). So when MooGoo got in touch to offer me the chance to review a product from their range, I jumped at the chance.
MooGoo are an Australian natural skincare brand founded in 2005 when Craig Jones noticed that his mum was using a white paste, intended for use on cows to help with her Psoriasis. Craig took on the task of reformulating the paste to be lighter and non-greasy. The name MooGoo was then created and since then over 40 products have been created, all of which are free from SLS, Parabens and Phenoxyethanol as well as other chemicals.
The products are designed to help with irritable skin and itchy scalps. It was quite hard choosing a product to review but I decided on the oil cleansing method.
Product Review- Oil Cleansing Method 100ml RRP £16.90
I had never tried an oil cleanser prior to this as I always favoured cream-based cleansers and gel washes. However at the start of the year I started to hot cloth cleanse and I liked the idea of being able to keep up with my hot cloth cleanse but by switching to an oil cleanser. I find that doing a hot cloth cleanse before bed makes me feel more relaxed and a little more indulgent than just washing with cleanser and water.
As you can see from the photo above the cleanser is non-foaming and you only need a small amount meaning the 100ml bottle lasts ages! I started off using it daily for the first 2 weeks and after noticing visible changes like less tightness in my skin and a clearer complexion even during menstruation where I would always breakout in spots- I switched to using it every Sunday evening as part of my self-care Sunday routine.
The cleanser contains a combination of drawing oils (Jojoba and Avocado) to remove dirt and oil buried deep in pores. Using this alongside a hot cloth also helps to open up pores.
It is made with moisturising oils to cleanse without stripping skin of natural oils and is suited towards problem skin including dry skin, spot-prone skin and sensitive skin. It also works amazingly well to remove make-up and is a more eco-friendly way of removing make-up. When using it as a make-up remover I use it alongside reusable cotton pads.
I absolutely love that it’s a natural product and one which my partner who suffers from Psoriasis can also use.
I am keen to try some more products from the range which include moisturisers, hand gels, eczema cream, hair products and toothpastes. They also do a baby range including a nipple balm which does not need to be removed prior to breastfeeding as the ingredients are edible.
*I was gifted the oil cleanser in return for an honest and unbiased review.
