So I finally visited http://www.federalcafe.co.uk/ which is a little Australian/New Zealand Café & Bar in Manchester’s NQ after drooling over their Instagram and Facebook photos. On arrival I was greeted by a friendly team of staff. After analysing the healthy-looking menu I decided to try the sourdough toast with peanut butter and a green tea matcha latte. On ordering the waitress asked if I had visited before and told me a bit about the café before giving me a loyalty card to use on my visits. The sourdough was toasted perfectly and was served with a large portion of peanut butter and regular butter. The portion was great and the peanut butter was smooth and tasted like a good quality brand. I was tempted to order a mug of Milo, a popular hot chocolate drink which always brings back childhood memories of Cape Town for me. It’s very popular in Australia too. However I decided to order the healthier option in a green tea matcha latte.

Federal is small and intimate and makes a nice change from the hustle and bustle of larger coffee shops and cafes.

It’s definitely nice to have somewhere in the city centre where I can have a healthy brunch. As an avocado lover I am looking forward to trying all their lovely sounding avocado brunches. The green tea matcha latte is definitely one to try.
