As you probably know from my previous updates on Instagram I developed a condition called SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) at the halfway stage of my pregnancy. The condition made it impossible for me to exercise, stand or sit for long periods, get dressed or sleep properly. I was on crutches for the last few months too. And it carried on for over a year after Amber was born. I have been doing pilates to heal myself and get my pelvis back to where it should be but the condition has caused me great anxiety and has meant even now I have to be very careful of any exercises I do. About 16 months before I fell pregnant I took up barefoot running. I was working at Cotswold Outdoor and one of the managers was an avid runner, his enthusiasm was infectious and I soon ordered a pair of barefoot running shoes from our supplier Inov8 and made running a nightly thing. So I was gutted when just as I started enjoying it and seeing benefits (weight loss, better energy levels, toned legs) I was ordered by my physio to stop. So this is where Run or Dye comes in. It is the worlds most colourful and fun 5k, and it suitable for anyone. You can even take your baby along in a sling or buggy! You don’t need to be a runner or a gym rat and the event isn’t timed. It’s just a fun way to experience something new while having fun. This is the perfect event for me to get my confidence and zest for running back!
During the run you get showered with colourful dye at every km, but don’t worry, it is safe, eco-friendly, plant based powered dye which washes out, however it’s probably best to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting ruined. Maybe a white tee so the colours will really stand out? I remember seeing participants from a previous run on my way home one year and thinking I HAVE TO DO THIS! Once you reach the finish line you’ll find yourself in the middle of a colourstorm. You’ll get to shake those moves while the MC’s countdown to the moment where you can officially Dye the Skye and open your free colour packet so you can share the rainbow with your friends and those around you!
