If you know me then you’ll know that I’m a huge Britney Spears fan (I actually purchased her album with my very first paycheck as a teen).

So, naturally I had to say yes when the opportunity came up to spend a Saturday afternoon at the Absolutely Britney Brunch in Manchester and in the heart of the gay village.

As you know I work with the LGBTQIA+ community and August is my favourite time of year as it’s pride month in Manchester and the city lights up! Think party atmosphere, amazing events and fun vibes. Britney Brunch was the perfect build up to pride week.

What to expect 

Britney Brunch is a fully live vocal show with brunch, 90 minutes of bottomless drinks (prosecco, cocktails, beers and soft drinks) and a chance to sing your heart out and get out your best dance moves.

The Manchester show is held at a venue called, Area which is on Sackville Street. We were lucky to have been seated to the side of the stage, so we had a great view!

The food came out quickly which was great, my friend and I had the cheeseburger and southern fried chicken burger.

In terms of bottomless drinks, the concept is simple. Bottles of prosecco are brought to your table and then you simply raise your raise when you want more and a member of the bar staff comes over to fill your class. Cocktails, beers and soft drinks are served from the bar.

Entertainment

The event is hosted by a fabulous drag hostess who is brilliant and very engaging. I loved some of her more risqué jokes, and she was the perfect warm-up for the main show.

Britney herself is performed by the incredible Absolute Britney. Honestly, the choreography and vocals were uncanny. You do genuinely feel like you’re watching the real Britney up there. It was good to hear a varied selection of her songs, everything from old favourites such as You Drive Me (Crazy) to the iconic I’m A Slave For You.

The crowd was a mixture of friends just having a fun afternoon out, a few hen parties and birthday celebrations, and the atmosphere got louder and more fun once the prosecco started coming out. Once Britney is finished her set you are treated to around an hour of party anthems, honestly, the atmosphere was crazy! I am already looking forward to coming again.
