I felt extremely lucky to receive the new Lizi’s Granola Low Sugar in the post to review.
I have always been a big fan of granola but as delicious as they are some are full of sugar which adds unnecessary calories and no goodness. So recently I have started making my own, however being a mum to a 14 month old, studying and working it’s not always easy to find the time to commit to making my own so I was really excited to see a low sugar version.
Lizi’s Granola already have a variety of flavours available however this new one caught my eye. It contains mixed nuts, oats and seeds and is sweetened with black treacle (1.6%) and fructose (1.6%). The oats contain high levels of Beta Glucans, which helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels.
In terms of Nutrition a 50g serving comes in at 250kcal with 7.1g Protein, 4.9g Fibre, 13.6g Fat (Sat 2.1g) and 22g Carbohydrates (1.9g of which are sugars).
It does taste very natural and has a lovely crunch and generous amounts of my favourite pumpkin seeds. I think it would be delicious used as a base for cheesecake or as a healthy alternative to crumble.
I chose to have mine with Greek yoghurt, fresh strawberries and frozen berries to add some natural sweetness.
