December is just around the corner and with the festive season comes work parties, catch ups with friends and family and of course dreaded hangovers. Brits often get bad press for heavy drinking

With this in mind, AB InBev UK   who offer the UK’s leading premium beer and cider brands, including global brands such as Stella Artois, Corona and Beck’s decided to conduct some research to demonstrate the benefits of smart drinking by switching it up and opting for alcohol-free beer.

Some results showed that

  • 1 in 5 Londoners have missed a day at work because of a hangover
  • 18% of people have seen a wedding ruined by someone that drank too much
  • 23% of those aged 18-34 have been to a birthday that’s been interrupted by someone who can’t moderate their drinking

However on a more positive note new research revealed that 78% of Brits consider themselves to be moderate drinkers, with health benefits being the key factor in driving smart drinking habits.  This is something which I can relate to, as in my experience heavy drinking leads to craving salty foods and hangovers always have me reaching for the nearest burger takeaway and fizzy juice.  With the health industry booming many Brits are making small but effective changes to their lifestyle.  This shows with only 16% of Brits now admitting to drinking above the recommended guidelines.

The research also showed that almost half of Brits enjoyed being in control while on a night out. These stats are fantastic to read and shows that Brits are well on their way to switching.

Beck’s beer offer a great-tasting alcohol-free range which includes Beck’s Blue and Blue Lemon, a refreshing lemon flavoured beer. I’ve tried a few different alcohol-free beers in the past when I’ve been pregnant or on medication and what sets the Beck’s range out from the rest is that it tastes very similar to the original beer, proving that you don’t have to miss out on the beer taste if you #switchitup.
