It’s officially summer and Manchester has had some amazing weather. I’m constantly running after my toddler and if I’m honest I struggle to find time to fit in my 2-3 litres of water a day. However I love coconut water and I find it easier to drink than plain water. Aldi have started selling Vita Coco at £1.79 which is a lot cheaper than anywhere else. Asian food shops are also cheap for coconut water. Just make sure it’s 100% coconut water and not artificially sweetened otherwise your healthy drink becomes not so healthy.
So you’re probably wondering what’s so great about coconut water, right? Well for starters it’s great for hydration, especially in summer or after a workout. It’s full of potassium which is vital for keeping the brain, nerves, heart and muscles in shape. Coconut water also has the same benefits of sports drinks without all the sugars and calories. It is also low in fat and contains naturally occurring sugars, compared to refined sugars or artificial sweeteners found in sports drinks.
It’s not to everyones taste but there are flavoured versions or you can add to your blender or Nutribullet with some fruit and ice for a lovely smoothie.
